They Call It a 'Women's Disease.' She Wants to Redefine It.

2023

For this assignment, students were asked to select an article and transform it into a fully designed book, with a focus on both content clarity and visual presentation. I chose an article discussing endometriosis, a chronic and often misunderstood disease that affects millions of people worldwide. This topic holds personal significance for me, as I have also been diagnosed with endometriosis. I felt it was important to use this project as an opportunity to shed light on a condition that is frequently underrepresented in mainstream media and healthcare discussions.

My primary goal in designing this book was to highlight the most impactful and informative parts of the article while creating a layout that is both engaging and accessible. I carefully considered typography, imagery, and color choices to reflect the seriousness of the topic while maintaining visual appeal. The design seeks to strike a balance between emotional resonance and educational value, ultimately aiming to raise awareness and foster empathy for those living with endometriosis. This project allowed me to merge personal experience with thoughtful design to create something both meaningful and informative.
